Banyan Software Acquires Questi

Belgian primary education software leader joins Banyan to pursue its next phase of growth

Banyan Software, a long-term investor and operator of growing software businesses, is excited to announce the acquisition of Questi, a provider of pedagogical student development software for primary schools in Belgium.

Founded in 2012 in Geel, Belgium, Questi was built by primary school teachers for primary school teachers with one simple idea: put the child first, not the paperwork. Questi ties lesson planning to curriculum goals, uses care files that track each student’s academic progress, wellbeing, and needs, and generates inspection-ready report cards. Sold as three connected products, Questi for Teachers, Questi for Parents, and Questi for Students, on a shared platform it serves over 1,000 primary schools, 25,000 teachers and 300,000 students across Belgium.

“We started Questi with a simple belief: software for schools should focus on the children. Fourteen years on, we see opportunities that are bigger than we can pursue on our own. We were looking for a partner that would protect what makes Questi special, the very human, founder-accessible support our schools rely on, and to provide strong support with the various growth opportunities ahead of us. We found that in Banyan.”

Lisa Van Houdt • Co-founder and CEO of Questi

“The best software businesses enjoy a kind of loyalty that is hard to manufacture, and Questi has it. Schools use Questi because the product was shaped by people who understand their work because they lived it. Our job is to protect that and build on it, keeping the team in place and bringing operating support and experience from across our education software portfolio to help Questi reach even more teachers so they can best support their students.”

Julie Koegenboeg, Head of Northern Europe, and Jos Gritter, M&A Lead Benelux, at Banyan Software

With the acquisition of Questi, Banyan now operates six businesses in the Benelux region. Banyan is committed to serve and expand the region. The current software businesses form a tight community where best practices are shared, both locally within the Benelux region and internationally across the vertical portfolios.
