What inspired you to pursue a career in finance and how has your journey been so far?
I actually have a science undergraduate degree from way, way back but since I couldn’t seem to give up going to school I transitioned to business and eventually finance. For me, an engaging career has always meant continuous learning and being in finance provided me with a chance to learn about so many different businesses and how they work from the ground up! It’s been a great journey so far and I believe it opens a lot of doors for different career paths moving forward.
What sets Banyan apart from others you’ve worked for in the past?
What makes Banyan special for me is the amount of exceptionally bright individuals I get to work with everyday, both at HQ and at our operating companies. I don’t think many jobs would have given me the opportunity to learn so much in the period of time I’ve been here and I’ve gained some really great mentors from diverse industries & backgrounds.
What’s something about you (a fun fact) that not many people know?
I self-taught myself how to crochet during the pandemic and have made 4 baby blankets so far (+ 1 dog sweater!)
Looking to the future, how do you hope to continue making a positive impact for women in your industry?
I think making a positive impact is all about leading by example and passing along the support that you received during your own career. I hope to be a mentor & visible supporter to more women in the industry. As part of this, I plan to stay committed to encouraging diversity within the teams I’m a part of and challenge the status quo to help create inclusive work environments.
