Reflections and Strategies for 2024
Read our annual highlights, including an interview with BeQuick CEO Sean Biganski and advice from Technical Operating Partner Debra Danielson, to help kickstart the New Year.
Message from the CEO
What a year! 2023 saw incredible growth for Banyan as a whole and across our businesses. Our goal has always been to be known as the best permanent home for successful software business - one that fosters continued independence, provides strong benefits from being part of a family of companies, builds great workplaces for our employees, and delivers mission-critical products that delight customers.
When it comes to sharing insights and proven methods across our businesses, the exchange of ideas in 2023 proved to be incredibly powerful. This came in the format of our Sales, Customer Success and Development Leadership Guilds (connecting functional leaders across our businesses), our CEO Summit and regular roundtable sessions, and the 1:1 work our Operating Partners take on in coaching CEO’s through our best practices. Topics included great sessions on driving customer engagement, effective change management, creating product roadmaps, the seven deadly mistakes in sales and marketing, and effective talent acquisition.
Among the highlights of the last year, I am particularly proud of the recent employee engagement survey results, showcasing that over 90% of our employees across Banyan and our businesses would recommend their workplace as a great place to work. Alongside earning spots on both the INC 5000 and the Deloitte Fast 500 lists of fastest growing companies, I am continuously amazed by our team and the culture we strive to cultivate.
While the high-flying tech energy of 2022 came back down-to-earth a bit in 2023, we have stayed true to our path all along the way – continuing to listen to customers, make rational investments that benefit them, and finding profitable growth in our businesses as a result.
Looking forward to a great year ahead,
David Berkal | CEO, Banyan Software

Navigating Roles & Transitions
Navigating Roles and Transitions for Owners
Some owners aim to exit at closing or within a year or two afterward, while others choose to stay on indefinitely, continuing to grow the business with the support of a broader team.
Depending on the situation, Banyan is able to recruit great talent when the time comes. The owners are often part of this process to ensure we find the right fit which can often include tapping into talent within the business.

“I have worked at H&W Computer Systems for 13 years now, working my way up the ranks. I was nervous about taking the CEO role, concerned it would require more skills than I currently had. Banyan was very supportive in helping me transition into the CEO position and empowering me to embrace the role. Every person at Banyan has been pleasant, helpful, and supportive in every way possible. I still have a lot to learn, but have already had significant professional growth, and we are on track for finding a nice balance of support and independence. I look forward to a long relationship with Banyan.”

“Right after we closed with Banyan, I took the CEO title. Over this past year, we’ve taken on more accounts than we have in the past three or four years combined. Working under Banyan, I’m learning a lot. I feel there’s a lot of work I can do. And, as long as it’s challenging and changing in some way, I’ll be here. I feel like I’m in charge of shaping my role.”
